The Benefits of Recitals

For Our Students

When students perform in a recital in front of friends, teachers, and family, they provide great entertainment value to the audience. However, recitals benefit the participants too. Here are some of the benefits of playing in a recital:

Improving Through Urgency

Something changes when you hear that you will be performing in a recital. The expected nervousness sets in, but more importantly you’ll sense urgency as the deadline approaches. When you know you’ll be performing soon, you’ll practice more often. The sense of urgency makes a great motivator! You’ll learn faster and keep working hard even after the recital because you enjoyed the rewards of all your hard work.

Gaining Performance Experience

It’s not easy to perform live in front of people. But don’t worry! The more you perform in front of an audience, the easier it becomes. By participating in recitals, you’re gaining great experience for when you’ll need to present in front of a crowd or perform as a professional musician.

Getting Inspired By Advanced Performers

If you’re a beginner student, you’ll get to watch the more advanced students play towards the end. You’ll get to see great performances and know that you too will be able to play like that soon. You’ll leave with increased motivation and excitement that’ll continue to carry through your musical education.

Gaining a Great Sense of Pride

This one is the most important benefit you’ll get out of recitals. Picture yourself on the stage during the recital. You obviously worked very hard to get this far and you had to face your worst fear. Now imagine when you feel the applause and smiles pouring onto you. This magical moment of recitals lasts forever. You’ll feel accomplished, special, and appreciative of all the hard work you endured. Your self-esteem will be boosted and you’ll be ready to take on any challenge with a smile on your face.
